Plot Summary: From the shifting faultlines of Hollywood fantasies and the economic and racial tensions of Reagan's America, Fishbone rose to become one of the most original bands of the last 25 years. With a blistering combination of punk and funk they demolished the walls of genre and challenged the racial stereotypes and political order of the music industry and the nation. Telling it like it is, the iconic Laurence Fishburne narrates "Everyday Sunshine," a story about music, history, fear, courage and funking on the one.
Everyday Sunshine could most likely coast on the quirkiness of the band itself and their odd presence in the pop culture landscape and still make for a massively entertaining film.
The film itself is pretty damn good and shot really well. My only complaint is that, even at 107 minutes, it felt like it ran a little long and could’ve used some more editing. However, if you’re a fan of Fishbone I feel like you’d probably revel in every minute of this in depth look at a very influential band!
